In the midst of Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs and invasion of Canada, Canada’s outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with King Charles.

Donald Trump has said many times that he wants Canada to become “the 51st US state,” but Canada, which is right next door, has strongly rejected this idea. King Charles, who is also the leader of Canada, has not yet said anything about it.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Trudeau shared a picture of himself with the British queen.

“This morning I met with His Majesty King Charles III.” “We talked about things that are important to Canadians, most importantly Canada’s future as a sovereign and independent country,” he wrote.
The two people met at Sandringham, which is where King Charles lives. The specifics of the secret talks have not been made public yet, but the Associated Press said that Trump’s threat to annex the territory were talked about.

Besides the fear of annexation, Donald Trump’s government has also put a 25% tariff on goods from Canada, saying that drugs coming into the US are to blame. Trump’s plans for tariffs, which are set to go into effect on Tuesday, will also have an effect on Mexico.

Donald Trump’s annexation threat to Canada

Donald Trump asked for Canada to become the 51st state of the United States in December of last year. It was even said that he would lower taxes for Canadians and that NHL great Wayne Gretzky should be in charge of the country.

In the world of ice hockey, Wayne Gretzky is known as “The Great One.” I just left him a message. This is what Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time: “I told Wayne, ‘Why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada? You would win easily, and you wouldn’t even have to campaign.'”

Since becoming president on January 20, Donald Trump has made the same call several times. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and a close friend of Trump’s, has also backed the call. People in Canada, regardless of party, are against the plan.
