Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s daughter, said on Monday that her divorced father used sex-selective in vitro fertilisation (IVF) to get her pregnant.
Vivian Jenna Wilson wrote on the social media site Threads, “My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for.” She said this.
She also said, “So when I was a girl as a child and then found out I was transgender, I was going against what was sold.” That idea of what it means to be a man that I had to fight my whole life was a business deal. A deal involving money. A TRANSACTION OF MONEY.”
A Forbes article from 2022 said that Elon Musk had “an engineering approach to reproduction.” The article also stated that at least five of Musk’s children were born through IVF. At birth, all five of the children were given the name male.
A story from 2022 from Forbes said that Musk was taking “an engineering approach to reproduction” and that at least the first five of those children were conceived through IVF. All of them were assigned male at birth.
The story also brought up questions about Musk’s use of IVF, asking, “Were his first babies chosen to be male at the preimplantation stage?”
Sex-selective IVF is allowed in the US, but it is a touchy subject because picking the child’s sex is seen as unethical. In many places, like India, Canada, and China, it is illegal for people to choose to have male children.
Elon Musk hasn’t said anything about what his daughters said yet. Lawyers changed Wilson’s name and gender in 2022 because she no longer lived with her biological father and didn’t want to be connected to him.
In 2024, Musk said on a show that Wilson had been “killed by the woke mind virus.” His daughter took issue with this claim.
In her first public interview, Vivian Jenna Wilson told NBC News that her father had been mean and uninterested in her because of who she was.
