In the 1990s, Adi Irani had a good run as an actor. He had supporting parts in a number of hits and shared the screen with stars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. But the star just recently said that the success of his movies didn’t help him financially much. By the mid-1990s, he still didn’t have enough money to buy milk and gas.

Adi Irani on what comes next after Baazigar

In a recent chat with Filmytantra Media, the actor talked about how the success of Baazigar didn’t help him, but it did make Shah Rukh a star. One of the actor’s big breaks came with this 1993 movie. Irani remembered, “My first daughter was born in 1995. Milk cost ₹5 at that time, and sometimes I didn’t even have that.” For work and roles, I had to go into the city every day and meet people. I took a friend’s scooter to get around. I didn’t always have enough money to fill up the tank. When I didn’t have money for gas, I would walk from my house to the bus stop. People would ask me, “Why are you waiting at the bus stop?” and I’d lie and say I was just waiting for a friend. “Why would you need to take a bus?” they used to ask. Then I would sneak home.”

Sister Aruna Irani Support

Adi is the brother of veteran actor Aruna Irani, who was already well-known when Adi started his career in the 1980s. When asked if he told her about his money problems, the star said, “My sister knew about them and offered to help many times, but I turned them down.” Just because I’m her brother doesn’t mean she has to take care of me forever; that was hard for me, and she also had her own family to take care of.

Adi Irani was in many movies, including Welcome, Dil, Baazigar, Badshah, and Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain. The 2000s were bad years for his career and jobs. He was last seen in A Thursday, 2022, with Yami Gautam, in a supporting part.
