Upcoming iPhone 17: Five Most Anticipated Features Upcoming iPhone 17: Five Most Anticipated Features

The most recent addition to the series, the iPhone 16e, was released not long ago. However, speculation is rife over the iPhone 17 series, which is anticipated to be unveiled in September 2025. One of the biggest redesigns since 2017’s iPhone X release might happen this year. In addition to the Pro models, which are anticipated to come with significant enhancements, Apple is allegedly developing a streamlined iPhone 17 Air variant. However, how about the regular iPhone 17? Although there haven’t been many leaks about it, the base model is said to have five major characteristics.

Screen size increase

It is possible that the regular iPhone 17 will have a little larger screen. The design will probably be very similar to the iPhone 16, however there have been rumors that the screen size could increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. As a result, it would be the same size as the iPhone 16 Pro. Speculation is that Apple may discontinue the Plus size in 2025, positioning the iPhone 17 between the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch possibilities. Display options could range from 6.3 inches for the regular model to 6.9 inches for the 17 Pro Max, 6.6 inches for the 17 Air, and 6.3 inches for the 17 Pro.

High-Definition Motion for everyone

While the 120Hz ProMotion display has been reserved for Pro versions for some time, that could change in 2025. Not only will the Pro models receive this functionality, but rumour has it that the regular iPhone 17 and the tiny iPhone 17 Air will as well. Video playing and scrolling are both improved with ProMotion’s 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rates. It may also make always-on displays possible, though it’s not clear if Apple will implement this across the board. The more energy-efficient and ProMotion-compatible LTPO panels are intended to be used by all models.

A19 chip featuring enhanced performance

The new A19 processor, constructed using an improved 3nm technology, is expected to be used in the iPhone 17 series. It won’t be the rumoured 2nm technology, but it will be more efficient and have better performance than earlier processors. The ordinary iPhone 17 and slim variant will most likely keep using the regular A19 chip, while the Pro models will most likely receive the A19 Pro chip. Thanks to TSMC’s N3P technology, this chip is anticipated to provide quicker speeds and enhanced battery life.

New and improved 24 megapixel selfie camera

All varieties of the iPhone 17 are said to include a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, a significant boost from the 12-megapixel predecessor. The result will be higher-quality images that retain detail even after cropping. A mechanical aperture, which allows the user to control the quantity of light entering the lens, is also anticipated in at least one model. Due to the fixed apertures on existing iPhone models, this would be an innovation. Improved control over depth-of-field, made possible by a variable aperture, could lead to more polished photographs.

The Wi-Fi chip designed by Apple

It is widely believed that Apple’s proprietary Wi-Fi 7 chip, which offers improved efficiency and communication, will be included in all iPhone 17 versions. With Wi-Fi 7, you can enjoy lower latency and faster speeds—up to and above 40Gb/s. It is also anticipated that Bluetooth 5.3 will be incorporated.
