A top source in India’s sports ministry told PTI on Thursday that the country has sent in its bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Gujarat. ‘Expression of Interest’ letters to hold the Games had to be sent by March 31. India’s letter was sent a few days ago by the Indian Olympic Association. “Yes, it is true, India’s bid has been submitted by the IOA and the state of Gujarat,” the source said. This happened after India’s sports minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, said the country wanted to host the Games. India last held the CWG in 2010 and also wants to host the Olympics in 2036.
