Chikni Chameli, Sheila Ki Jawani, Kamli and more, Katrina Kaif will forever be Bollywood’s favourite dance numbers girl. But it’s not just her moves that grba the spotlight, her flawless skin and makeup deserve all the hype too! As she turns 42 today, her skin is more glowing than ever, her makeup is always on point, and she looks as radiant as when she was 24. In this article, we look at Katrina Kaif’s personal care routine, which she revealed during an interview with The Week in 2024.
Katrina is strict with her off-duty regimen. When she is not working or going out, she likes to have a fuss-free approach to beauty. “Unless I have friends over or I’m stepping out, I don’t put on makeup,” she said, making sure her skin breathes when she’s not working.
The times when she has to put on makeup, she makes sure it is minimal and carefully curated. “I like my skin to feel like it’s breathing. I don’t want to feel anything heavy or layered,” she explained. Her must-haves include a lightweight cream blush that doubles as a lip tint, a delicate eye crayon, a dab of concealer, and a tinted balm, all designed to subtly enhance, not conceal.
As the founder of her own beauty label, Kay Beauty, Katrina’s skincare philosophy has evolved over the years. Having dealt with sensitive skin, she now prioritises dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic formulations. “Anything that feels too rich or heavy tends to clog my pores,” she said. “I have to be very particular about what goes on my skin, it has to be gentle, approved, and suitable for sensitive skin.”
Her favourite skincare ritual is facial sculpting using the traditional Gua Sha. Even though she was apprehensive about its benefits initially, Katrina is now a devoted fan. “I used to think it wouldn’t do much,” she admitted. “But it’s honestly amazing. It’s become one of my favourite tools.”
As a gua sha fan, she advises to always use an oil that offers enough slip, like coconut oil in her case. This ensures smooth movement and avoids tugging.
However, when it comes to her hair, Katrina has a sentimental favourite. It’s a homemade oil prepared by her mother-in-law, Vicky Kaushal’s mother. “It’s truly the most incredible hair oil I’ve ever used,” she said. She shared that it includes natural ingredients like onion, amla, and avocado, all simmered together in an iron pot to extract all the benefits of these super ingredients.
“Homemade oils really work,” Katrina said. “There’s something special about ingredients from the kitchen, they’re simple, but so effective.”
