Shubman Gill, the captain of India, silenced his detractors during the recently concluded Test series against England by scoring 754 runs in five matches. He concluded the match as the leading run-scorer and was also awarded the title of India’s Player of the Series after the visitors secured a 2-2 tie in the five-game aggregate. Gill’s score is the second-highest by a captain in a Test series, trailing only Don Bradman, who had amassed 801 runs against England. Gill, on the other hand, experienced a four-place decline to 13th in the most recent ICC Test rankings for batters.

Gill was ranked ninth prior to the fifth and final test. His rating points were reduced in the most recent standings as a result of his mere 32 runs in the series-decider.

Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna achieved their career-best ratings of 674 points and 368 points, respectively, in the most recent ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings, following their exceptional performance in The Oval Test.

Siraj, who was named Player of the Match in the fifth Test, advanced 12 positions to secure the 15th position in the most recent ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings. Krishna, a fellow pacer, advanced 25 positions to the 59th position in the list after capturing eight wickets in the deciding Test, which India won by six runs.

As per the ICC, this is the highest ever position in the Test classification for both Siraj and Krishna, who produced match-winning spells in the final Test against England.

Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue, both England pacers, have also achieved their career-best positions after each capturing eight wickets in The Oval Test. Tongue has climbed 14 positions to secure the 46th position in the rankings tally, while Atkinson makes his first appearance in the top 10.

Despite the fact that the other centurions in the game, Joe Root and Harry Brook, continue to firmly hold the first two positions in the ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings, the Oval centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal gained three spots to emerge into the top five for Test batters with 792 rating points.
