In the midst of elaborate arrangements, over 73 lakh individuals participated in the Maghi Purnima celebrations at the Sangam until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, as part of the Maha Kumbh mela.

The month-long Kalpavas will conclude with the Maghi Purnima ritual, and approximately 10 lakh kalpvasis will begin to depart the Maha Kumbh. The administration has requested that all Kalpvasis adhere to traffic regulations and utilise only authorised parking spaces.

Since the bathing began in the early morning, thousands of devotees have already participated in the sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam and other ghats. Millions of devotees are en route to the Sangam Nose to participate in the ritual of taking a plunge.

Rajesh Dwivedi, the SSP of Kumbh, stated, “The movement of devotees is proceeding smoothly, and we are addressing all pressure points in the crowd.” “We have also made elaborate arrangements for the previous’snan’ on Basant Panchami.” This time, our arrangements have been further enhanced. Additional deployments have been implemented at each pressure point. Additionally, we are providing individuals with information to guarantee that the process proceeds smoothly,” he stated.

On the occasion of the sacred bathing festival, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his greetings to the residents of the State and devotees.

“Greetings to all the revered saints, religious leaders, Kalpvasis, and devotees who have arrived at the sacred Triveni for the holy bath during Maha Kumbh-2025 in Prayagraj.” May the grace of Lord Shri Hari flood the lives of all with happiness, prosperity, and good fortune. “May Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna, and Maa Saraswati grant the desires of all,” he wrote on X.

The officials have made elaborate preparations for the event to guarantee that the devotees can take the sacrosanct bath without any complications. Mr. Adityanath is receiving consistent updates regarding the event from the war centre that has been established at his official residence in Lucknow.

The fair area has been designated as a “no vehicle zone” beginning at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The city will become a no-vehicle zone from 5 p.m. onwards, with the exception of emergency and essential services. In order to mitigate traffic congestion, parking sites have been designated for both public and private vehicles.

Bhanu Bhaskar, the ADG of Prayagraj, stated that special police forces have been deployed in all locations where population management is a challenge.

The special traffic plan will be in effect until the cleansing ritual is completed to guarantee the safe evacuation of devotees from the fair area in the event of an emergency.

Mr. Bhaskar stated that real-time data is being collected from toll plazas and officials of neighbouring districts to facilitate the monitoring and regulation of the number of vehicles and routes.

Srinivas, who has travelled from Andhra Pradesh to participate in the sacred dip, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It is a pleasant experience.” The government of Uttar Pradesh has implemented appropriate measures. I am extremely grateful to Prime Minister Modi and Yogi Adityanath ji. On Maghi Purnima, everyone has assembled to bathe. Gayatri, another devotee, expressed her joy at being present at the Kumbh Mela, stating, “I am extremely pleased to be here.” I am extremely pleased to be present on this auspicious occasion. The UP government has fostered a positive environment in this region. This is the first occasion I have truly felt like an Indian, despite being a Hindu. Individuals have manifested their religiosity, and unity has been fostered. The state transport department has arranged for 1,200 additional transit buses to be available every 10 minutes for the return of the devotees, according to officials. On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government announced that the Maha Kumbh will conclude in just 14 days. Since January 13, the major religious event has been attended by over 45 crore individuals who have participated in the Sangam water.

The final Amrit Snan on the occasion of Mahashivratri will conclude the Maha Kumbh on February 26.

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, 30 individuals were killed and 60 were injured in a stampede that occurred during the Manui Amaswya ‘Amirt Snan’ on January 29.
