On Thursday (March 6, 2025), Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that Naxalism was being eradicated from the jungles. However, he also expressed apprehension regarding its rapid dissemination in urban areas, as certain political parties were also adopting its ideology.
Mr. Modi also targeted the Congress during the Republic Plenary Summit, which was organized by the news channel in this location. He stated that the party had crushed the aspirations of the people, who had also ceased expecting much from the party.
He stated that the people’s aspirations have been on the rise in the past decade since his government assumed power, and that things have since changed.
“The India of today is characterized by its ambitious mindset, ambitious objectives, and substantial outcomes.” This is due to the changes in the country’s mentality. Mr. Modi stated that the nation is making strides toward its ambitious objectives.
“In the past decade, we have transformed impact-less administration into impactful governance,” asserted the president.
Mr. Modi asserted that the youth are the X-factor of contemporary India, where the ‘X’ represents expansion, excellence, and experimentation.
The Prime Minister stated that the government has made significant progress in the security sector, and terror attacks and covert cells of terrorists have been eliminated from the country and television headlines.
“Naxalism is also nearing its conclusion in the nation.” This threat has previously significantly impacted more than 100 districts. Nevertheless, this figure has been significantly diminished to approximately twenty-two districts as of today, according to Mr. Modi.
He stated that this was made feasible by the government’s emphasis on grassroots governance.
“While Naxalism is steadily being eradicated from jungles due to decisive actions, it is beginning to spread its roots into urban centres, presenting a new challenge,” said Prime Minister Modi.
“Urban Naxals have cast their net so fast that a political party that opposed urban Naxals, was inspired by the thoughts of Gandhiji and had its pulse on the people, was now echoing their views,” according to him.
“Urban Naxals have established themselves within these political organizations.” Currently, these political parties are resonating with the voices of urban Naxals. In an apparent reference to the Congress party, Mr. Modi stated, “We can imagine how deep their roots go.”
“We have to remember that urban Naxals are strongly opposed to our development and heritage,” according to him.
The Prime Minister stated that a developed India necessitated both the preservation of heritage and development. “We have to guard against urban Naxals.” Mr. Modi claimed that the Congress had disregarded the aspirations of those who had lost faith in it. However, he stated that the aspirations of the populace have increased over the past decade.
He also stated that the nation has emerged from the preconception that it will collapse and engulf the world, and that India’s accomplishments and successes have inspired a new era of optimism worldwide.
According to the Prime Minister, India has achieved the status of the fifth largest economy in the world over the past decade and is on the brink of becoming the third largest.
He observed that India was the 11th largest economy in the globe after 65 years of independence.
He asserted that India is currently the driving force behind global development, and he stated that the country’s accomplishments and successes have instilled new optimism worldwide.
“World is now recognizing this century as India’s century and India’s achievements and successes have sparked new hope globally,” he indicated. “From toys to weapons, India has become self-reliant in the past 10 years and has turned into an exporter from an importer.” The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s annual GDP was Rs 1 lakh crore in 2007, which represented the complete economic activity for an entire year. This was approximately 18 years ago.
However, the same level of activity is now attained in a single quarter. He maintained that the rapid pace of economic development in contemporary India is underscored by this remarkable transformation.
In reference to parliamentary debates, he stated that opposition members inquire as to why Prime Minister Modi is not acting on specific matters, suggesting that they also believe that Mr. Modi is capable of doing so.
“Earlier, construction of houses was government-driven, but we have transformed it into an owner-driven approach,” according to him.
Prime Minister Modi underscored that the untapped economic potential of India’s villages was greater than ₹100 lakh crore. This potential was manifested in the form of houses in villages that lacked legal documents and appropriate mapping, which prevented villagers from obtaining bank loans.
He emphasized that this issue is not exclusive to India, as numerous large countries also lack property rights for their citizens.
He also stated that countries that grant property rights to their citizens experience a substantial increase in their GDP, as reported by international organizations.
“The Swamitva Scheme has been launched to provide property rights for village houses in India and drones are being used to survey and map each house in villages,” the Prime Minister stated.
He emphasized that the government is consistently eliminating the impediments erected by previous administrations, and he quoted the space sector as an example, in which everything was previously under the control of ISRO.
“While ISRO did commendable work, the potential of space science and entrepreneurship in the country was not fully utilized,” according to him.
According to Mr. Modi, the space sector has been now opened up for youthful innovators, which has led to the establishment of more than 250 space start-ups in the country.
He further stated that these start-ups are currently engaged in the development of missiles such as Agnibaan and Vikram-S.
The Prime Minister also addressed the cartography sector, which was previously reliant on government approval to generate maps in India.
“This restriction has been removed, and today, geospatial mapping data is paving the way for new start-ups,” according to him.
Observing that the nuclear energy sector was previously under government control with a variety of restrictions, the prime minister stated that the opening of this sector to private players was declared in this year’s Budget. This move will facilitate the addition of 100 gigawatts of nuclear energy capacity by 2047..
Mr. Modi asserted that the youth are the X-factor of the country, stating that they have established new paths by transcending traditional methods, set global benchmarks, and scaled up innovations for 140 crore Indians.
He emphasized that the youth have the potential to address the country’s most pressing issues; however, this potential was not previously capitalized on.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government now conducts the Smart India Hackathon annually, and tens of thousands of young people have participated thus far.
He stated that these young participants have devised approximately 2,500 solutions to a variety of governance-related problem statements from various Ministries and departments.
