A 20-year-old student of Indian descent who disappeared during her spring break excursion with her peers is currently being sought by authorities in the Dominican Republic. Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student, was reported missing on Thursday while she was traveling with a group in the resort town of Punta Cana, according to the New York Post. According to authorities in the Dominican Republic, Ms. Konanki disappeared while “walking the beach” and has not been seen or heard from since.

According to the Post, a spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office stated on Saturday that the office was notified on Thursday evening about a missing female from Loudoun County who was traveling in the Dominican Republic, specifically Punta Cana.

According to local officials, the 20-year-old disappeared while wearing a bikini while walking on the shore. She is described as having black hair and brown eyes, and standing at a height of 5 feet 3 inches, in a missing person’s poster. The poster specified that she was wearing a brown bikini, large round earrings, a metal designer anklet on her right thigh, yellow and steel bracelets on her right hand, and a multicolored beaded bracelet on her left hand at the time she disappeared.

The University of Pittsburgh officials stated in a statement that they were collaborating with the local authorities in Virginia and Ms. Konanki’s family. According to the outlet, university spokesperson Jared Stonesifer stated, “University officials are in communication with Sudiksha Konanki’s family and authorities in Loudoun County, Virginia, and we have provided our undivided support in their endeavors to locate her and return her home safely.”

Defensa Civil, a search and rescue team based in the Dominican Republic, embarked on a search for her on Saturday evening. However, the crew suspended the search at approximately 8 p.m. for the day. According to Defensa Civil, the search for Konanki will persist on Sunday.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Sudiksha Konanki is anticipated to complete her graduation from the university in 2026. The nature of her academic pursuits remains uncertain. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, prior to enrolling in college.
