According to the most recent data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which was released on Thursday morning, the number of active Covid-19 cases in India has increased to 4,866, with 564 new cases reported in the past 24 hours. A new surge in Covid-19 cases is currently being observed in India, with the number of active infections approaching 5,000. This resurgence is a result of the recent identification of the NB.1.8.1 subvariant, as well as the LF.7, XFG, and JN.1 variants.

According to the most recent data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of active cases has increased from 257 to over 4,000 since May 22. Kerala remains the most affected state, with New Delhi, West Bengal, and Maharashtra following in that order.

The central government has issued advisories to all states and union territories in response to the recent increase in the number of cases. These advisories urge them to guarantee the availability of essential medical supplies, such as oxygen and life-saving medications. Health experts underscore the significance of distinguishing between Covid-19 and other viral fevers, as they exhibit comparable symptoms, including fatigue and fever.

It is recommended that vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, exercise caution and seek medical attention if symptoms persist or worsen. The Indian Medical Association has also advised the implementation of ongoing preventive measures, such as the use of masks and the maintenance of proper hand hygiene, to mitigate the virus’s transmission.
