India and Pakistan are at odds with each other, and Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh ends up in the middle of a storm that he didn’t expect. Popular Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is in his new movie Sardaar Ji 3, which comes out on June 27. Her casting has caused controversy on social media because of the recent Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. A group of movie workers has also asked for Dosanjh to be banned. During Operation Sindoor, India banned Pakistani actors and material on many platforms, such as OTT services and social media, because they were worried about national security. This movie will be shown in theaters around the world, but not in India.
Actually, Diljit hasn’t said anything about it directly, but he did post a conversation with Panos A. Panay, President of the Grammy Recording Academy, in which he talked about art, music, and the meaning of his life. In this place, he talked about how art has no limits and said, “Countries are at war, and we can’t change these things.” But I think music brings people from different countries together. I’m thankful to be a part of something that brings people together around the world in love.
What else did Diljit say? “I believe we should not only focus on nations, but also on Mother Earth.” The singer said of Earth, “All these borders are part of the same Mother Earth, and I belong to her.” So was Earth his mother.
Diljit added, “Hum aadmi hain ek daami,” which means “We humans are here only for a brief moment.” This was a line that his Guru had taught him. We need to stop fighting with each other because we only have a short time here.
The singer said, “Politics is a different space; I don’t want to make mistakes by speaking out of turn.” He emphasized that he wants to talk about what he knows. Each moment is important to me, and I want to make the most of it.
In the middle of all this, Diljit seems to have taken down a song sample from Sardaarji 3 that he posted on Monday because of the pushback. The actor Hania Aamir was in the song. However, the trailer for Sardaarji 3 is still on his page, along with the words “Sardaar ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS ONLY/Fadh Lao Bhoond Dian Lattan.” The movie will not be shown in India.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has also ordered that Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s makers not be allowed to work in India. Its leader, BN Tiwari, told India Today, “None of their movies or projects would be allowed to come out in India.” There would be full support from the Indian film business. Many Pakistani stars’ Instagram accounts were blocked in India after the April terror attack because of a “legal request.” Hania Aamir’s account was one of them.
