New Delhi: Sources have reported that Jordanian soldiers fatally shot an Indian man who was attempting to unlawfully enter Israel.
Thomas Gabriel Perera, a resident of Thumba in Kerala, has been identified as the individual in question. According to reports, the incident transpired on February 10.
The Indian Embassy in Jordan announced on Sunday that it has received information regarding the “tragic passing of an Indian national in unfortunate circumstances.”
“The Embassy is in touch with the family of the deceased and is working closely with Jordanian authorities for transportation of mortal remains of the deceased,” it indicated on X.

He was also wounded while attempting to cross into Israel, but his relative Edison, a resident of Menamkulam, survived. After undergoing treatment, he was returned to India.
The incident occurred in the context of the Israel-Hamas conflict and the escalating violence in the West Bank.
